Layla Gysin (She/Her), born in Basel in 1998, lives and works in Basel and Zurich. She is a recent graduate of the Zurich University of the Arts, having completed her bachelor’s diploma in Fine Arts in 2022. Layla primarily works with analogue and digital photography media through which she aims to open up new dialogues and create a space for her surroundings, her fellow human beings and their many stories. She uses her camera as a tool to alter seemingly “objective” realities, emphasizing the individual and subjective gaze. Her work invites viewers to discover fragments of her observations,  whether staged or not, from her point of view. In this way, the viewers' perceptions and perspectives are temporarily influenced changed, thereby highlighting the impact of photographic representation on our everyday realities.
